Global Status of Inclusive Technology in Higher Education, Compliance and Good Practices
Institutions of Higher Education around the world are at the forefront of the development and implementation of accessible and assistive technologies, including accommodation services and personalized support for their students and faculties. Yet, anecdotal evidence shows considerable disparities among countries and institutions.  This session will include a presentation and discussion among academic leaders of the results of an AMAC – G3ict global survey of the current state of advancement and practices of institutions of higher education in building an accessible digital environment on campus and for life-long and distance learning and which gaps present the most opportunities for all stakeholders.

New Tech Enablers for Accessible Learning Tools
Over the past few years, considerable advances in devices accessibility have made life on campuses or on-line learning far more inclusive. Yet, the technological revolution sweeping higher education is not equally accessible to all students. Massive Open Online Courses, Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other digital platforms are being designed with varying degrees of accessibility for students with mobility challenges, hearing and visual losses, and learning disabilities.  This session will highlight online platforms’ learning standards, platform accessibility, user data and examine innovations and available technologies which can enhance the inclusiveness of higher education.

Innovative Paths for Accessible Contents in Higher Education
Innovative models and activities are emerging which support the creation of accessible learning materials, both from the publisher perspective, faculty and industry. Meanwhile, the pervasive creation of web contents by faculty, students and administration requires universities to implement new processes such as ICT accessibility certification, training and supporting developers and to evolve towards a system-wide approach, including evaluation and remediation processes for developers and content managers and strategies for addressing social media accessibility issues.
